5 Videos Way On The Liberal Side of The Politics Of Dancing

Last Week | Next Week

Admit it, you dance like an idiot when you're all alone in your room-- or in the shower (let's visualize for a moment). Gyrating those hips, pumping those arms, and dreaming that one day you can be just half as awesome as the people in these videos.

Moby, ft Debbie Harry - New York New York
You know, I've never been to New York city. But somehow I'm confident that when I do eventually visit that this is exactly how it'd happen for me (at least the beginning).

Fatboy Slim - Weapon Of Choice
You've at least heard of this video, I'm sure. How could you not have? The one where Christopher Walken starts dancing around and-- er... flying?

AFI - The Leaving Song Part 2
If you've been around the hardcore and punk scene long enough you've encountered hardcore dancers in the pit. If you haven't? Well, watch out for flying fists! You've been warned.

Yelle - A Cause des Garçons
No, this video isn't from the 80's. Yes, that guy has a mullet. Yes, this is a real dance style called tecktonik. Yes, it's French.

Polysics - Pretty Good
I have no words for the sheer amount of awesome that is this video. Seriously, I have no idea what's going on. Are they dancing? I'm still not sure! But it's rad none the less.

Enjoyed the list? Help me make more! Every sunday I'm going to post another music videos list with a theme, but I can only find so many on my own! I need suggestions to keep this going! I don't care what genre of music it is, just send me a private message with a link to a video and which theme you think it fits in. I'll trim it down to the top five best. Here's a few to keep in mind:

Five Deceptively Simple Videos
Five Live Performance Videos Done By Audience Members
Five (official) Live Performance Videos
Five Film Noir Inspired Videos
Five Best AMVs (Anime Music Videos)
Five Videos That Are Montages
Five (Insanely Intricate) Single Shot Videos

Five Videos That Give You The Warm Fuzzies
Five Videos Where Children Are Our Future (And That Future Is Terrifying)

5 Music Videos That Want To Eat Your Brains

Last Week | Next Week

Everyone loves zombies! Slow ones, fast ones, Romero rules or 28 Days Later rage-infected (which aren't real zombies, but let's not go into that just now, shall we?). Whatever the reason, people just love them. If you don't love them, you're probably dead. And if you're dead, you're probably undead-- in which case we'll be too busy giggling insanely as we kill you with our death guns to care what you think. In any case, below is a list of five music videos what feature everyones favorite monsters.

The Aquabats - Fashion Zombies
Okay, so this one is a bit of a cheat. They may not be zombies in the traditional sense, but damnit if their sense of style isn't dead.

Leslie & The Lys - Zombie Killer
Elvira, gold lyrcra, abuse of aftereffects and some valuable information for surviving a zombie apocalypse makes this one of the kitschiest videos of all time.

Coheed And Cambria - Blood Red Summer
I'm a freak for Coheed and Cambria, but if you've ever wanted to see them dead now's your chance.

The Creepshow - Zombies Ate Her Brain
Finally! Some psychobilly on this list, eh?

Metallica - All Nightmare Long
Warning, this is a long video with almost no vocals. Also, there's a lot of reading involved. But if you can hang through it, there is a totally cool story about how Russia screws the world over with zombies. Wicked fun.

5 Music Videos With Cool Visuals, Yet No Discernable Stories (But Are Still Totally Awesome)

Last Week | Next Week

You can get away with just about anything in music videos: flying, gushing paint instead of blood, and just plain not making any sense. They're like stylistic fevered dreams that, like dreams, don't always make sense but are pretty awesome anyway. Here's a (wholly incomplete) list of five videos that are totally bad ass without having any story of which to speak.

And before you ask 'Where's Bjork?' I purposely left her out (you'd be surprised how many of her videos actually make a weird sort of sense).

The Wombats - Let's Dance To Joy Division
Around the time that people start floating away, and we see stoic faced school children singing "Love will tear us apart"-- I give into my suspension of disbelief and enjoy it for what it is.

Operator Please - Leave It Alone
These high schoolers from New Zealand have done Jackson Pollock proud. I may not understand why these kids start fighting (then again, being in a band is stressful) or why they're gushing multi-colored blood everywhere like an Army Of Darkness remake, but I love it none the less.

Refused - New Noise
Bunnies, zombies, living mannequins? What? This whole thing is like a fever-induced dream, and the energy of the band does nothing to lower your heart rate.

Polysics - I Me My Mine
Here's a good example of what I love about the Polysics: they make little to no sense half the time, but they look cool doing it (even if they're not in this particular video). That little girl shows up in a few of their other videos, too.

Dir En Grey - Obscure
It'd only make sense that the Japanese would top this list, wouldn't it? This particular video is completely creepy and amazing, if you ask me. The thing is, though... what the HELL is going on? I mean, seriously?

Enjoyed the list? Help me make more! Every sunday I'm going to post another music videos list with a theme, but I can only find so many on my own! I need suggestions to keep this going! Apropos' First Show, write-up

Last night was hella fun. For Apropos' first show, we had a hell of an awesome reaction from the kids who endured the snow to see some free punk rock. I'll give you a breakdown of the night.

After a short practice, a broke down truck, and an hour trip on the road we show up at The Wagon Wheel not sure what to expect. But hot damn, the parking lot is packed and a crowd of punk heads are standing outside smoking. We load our equipment and stand around awkwardly for a bit, trying to figure out what's going on. At one point we overhear someone talking to these two kids with a video camera "Man, stop recording us! Go talk to those guys! They're in a band."

"What band?"

"I dunno, nobody knows how to say their name."

I shout across the room, "APROPOS! UH-PRO-PO! Silent S, unless you're American."

They record us, and we talk about being a queercore band and stuff. When I get the video I'm posting the hell out of it. So after a bit the bands start.

To start out we had Three Days Ago, aptly named because they had formed three days ago. They were metal, but not bad at all. I don't know metal that well, but I liked them.

Next up was an acoustic guy named Eli Kay. Did nothing but covers of mostly 90s songs, and had a punk drummer backing him up. Altogether he was pretty rad, really nice vocals.

Apropos was third in the line-up, which was better than we were expecting as far as placement goes. We loaded up, turned on, and after a bit of hesitation on Alicia's part (goddamned drummers, too damned talkative) we broke out into our first song. Here's our setlist, with commentary (I fucking love listing things).
Equality Now is our intro song. It's straight ahead punk with simple repetitive vocals: What do we want? Equality! When do we want it? Right now! It's supposed to be gang vocals, like a protest chant, but the others didn't learn the vocals (my fault) so it was alright. The crowd perked up right on this song, 'cause they were all punk kids and the two bands before were decidedly not punk. Big cheers after that one.

Next up was The Flesh I Leave which I kinda fucked up. There weren't a whole lot of people there, maybe 50, and most were sitting in chairs-- but this is when we got our first introduction to our dancers for the night. Just one guy at first, then three, haha, all hardcore dancers. Fun stuff.

I introduced Hurt as our shittiest song of the night. It's a kinda ska song that none of us quite have right, and the lyrics aren't finished. But everybody got into it.

We followed that with our New Song, which we had just written this week. It's slow right now 'cause, y'know, it's our new song. Not much reaction during, but people liked it still.

After the new song I dropped my guitar for What The Bullet Sang, mostly because I don't know the lyrics in full for this song. The reason for not knowing them yet is because the song is actually a poem by Bret Harte of the same name, so it's a bit tougher to commit it to memory despite how much I love the words. During this song I ran into the crowd, around the whole bar, and generally acted a'fool. I got mad props on it later, which is always nice ^_^

I picked up the guitar again for Sing You Sinners, which kinda blew because I can't seem to write lyrics for this song, so I 1) fucked up my (lead) guitar stuff trying to remember what I had, and 2) fucked up the lyrics like crazy. One of our best songs ruined by me, haha. Still, though, pit went crazy (what there was of it).

The last song we had planned out was DMZ, which went fine until the bridge when Eric seemed to forget there WAS a bridge, and everything kinda got jacked. We ended it out alright. I was a bit surprised by the lack of pit on that song, since it's our hardest song. Whatever, it was still cool.

After that they kept telling us to play more-- specifically to do covers (I know they were messing around, but I like to mess back). So I turned around and told Alicia to just do a punk beat, and Eric y Vanessa to just go from 5 to 7 real fast. It sounded like ass, I screamed incoherently, and there was actually a pit, haha. I called the song Every Punk Song You've Ever Heard.

They weren't content with that and kept calling for an encore. So I went into the crowd with the mic and was like "Okay, so then... what do you want to hear?" One guy said "Elton John!" I turned to the other guy, and he said "SLAYER!" So I went back on stage and said "Alright, Vanessa. Drop the guitar. Eric, just play something fast and scary. We're gonna do an Elton John song as done by Slayer, as done by Death From Above 1979." So Eric and Alicia just played whatever for a long time while Vanessa and I screamed randomly into the mics. I, again, went into the crowd and went between screaming the same line, then shoving the mic in someones face. Sometimes they'd scream, sometime's they'd give me that look like "OMG! What're you doing?!" It was awesome. Best part was this guy was there with his two younger girls, so I put the mic in front of the younger girl and she took a second before screaming something, haha. Totally awesome. She looked happy.

Ironically, during the song I came up with a really great idea of turning it into an actual song, so next practice we're going to write what is now called God Save The USA! (We're Not Okay, Baby)

Finally, long after our time limit was up, we were like "Alright, we're done!" But we weren't. They wanted a cover, so I shouted "ALRIGHT! I concede! We're gonna do a cover! We're gonna cover a song that we already played tonight!"

Someone in the crowd, who turned out to be Nick from The Distracted, came forward and was like "OH SHIT! You're gonna play a cover... of a song you already played tonight?"

"WHICH IS," I continued, "A cover of an 18th century poem!"

"That is the most punk rock thing I've ever heard."

So I grabbed the mic and, deciding my voice was giving out, asked if anyone else wanted to sing the song. After a moment this one kid shouted "ME!" and came up front. I asked if he even wanted the lyrics to which he emphatically shouted "HELL NO!" So, we broke into the song and he started screaming whatever. Halfway through the song he handed the mic over to Nick, and disappeared. LAter Nick informed me that the lyrics went "Elvis couldn't finish the song because he had to pee!" Elvis being the guy who was singing.

It was an awesome way to end the set.

As we were breaking down every one of us got bombarded by people giving us props. A lot of 'em were surprised it was our first show, haha.

The next band was Innuendo. They were fucking outstanding. A lot of guys were hounding on them 'cause it was two hot chicks and a bushy-bearded drummer. But they were legitimately awesome, and I want to play more shows with them.

After them was The Distracted. Some good straight up punk fucking rock. Again, totally want to play shows with them.

Last up, and the guys who threw the whole thing together, were The Americommies. Goddamn, the place blew up when they went on. So much so a fight broke out in the middle of their set-- srsly. It was pretty lame, but it got contained and dissipated. I, unfortunately, decided to take that particular time to go outside and take a few photos, so I missed the whole thing. What I did catch of their show, though, was sick. Crazy good live.

We were invited to an after party with the Americommies and whoever else was going, but by that point it was snowing pretty hard and we were far from home. Drive home was kinda scary, but we made it.

So instead of going to an afterparty, Eric and I went home and got well rested so we could take a walk through the park and take fancy photos of the snow, then got tea at the local cafe. Pinkies up. Now I'm knitting a scarf.

God, I'm so gay sometimes.

20 Favorite Portraits

Inspired by my last post, as well as staying up until nearly 5 AM looking at portrait photography instead of sleeping, I've decided to post my 20 favorite portraits that I've shot. Narrowing down the list was painful (the last two to be cut in particular), but this definitely covers everything thoroughly. I'm certain there's going to be shots in here many of you haven't seen. Every shot has a story, a reason, and a personal emotion attached. Too bad you'll never know them! HA! Srsly, though, I have loved shooting every one of these photos and working with all these models (even if I'm not on speaking terms with them). But I digress: I love these photos. So... Enjoy, and let me know what you think! I thrive on feedback, you have no idea ^_^

Also, there's one portrait I haven't added to this list-- a self-portrait. The reason being? It's my default icon. I took that, of myself. Fun, huh? Without further ado...

15 Favorite Photos of '08 [+ GIVEAWAY, ends Dec. 10th]

While we're still a month away from the end of '08, I figured I'd post my top 15 favorite photos from this year. '08 was a decisive year in my photography, those who've known me long enough may have noticed.

I've been into photography as a mild hobby since junior high. In high school I took my first photo class and found myself taking assignments as a school paper staff photographer, as well as initiated myself as a band photographer (inasmuch as I could afford). '06 I was forced into buying a decent SLR for a class in my first semester at Ai. '07 I took my first two out-of-class photo gigs for quasi-fetish projects, December Dismemberment Film Fest and BulletBoys.org respectively. One camera broke, and an even better one was given to me by my mother. In '08 it became my passion, right up there with music, writing, art, and comics.

I've made numerous friends and allies through my photography, from my high school friend Kristine to the many people on Buzznet and deviantART. I've been recognized for what skill I have, and championed for initiating projects like the 72-Hour-Photo-Project (which will be making a comeback in coming months). Without the constant support and push from friends and family alike, all of whom are extremely supportive, I wouldn't have half the interest or passion in photography I do now.

Thank you.

To show I truly mean it, I'm giving away free prints of my photos to the first three people to comment. Details below, offer ends December 10th. And without further ado, my:

Obama and Ethnicity: An International President

Here's the short of my view on President-Elect (note the use of capitals) Barack Obama and his being black: I think it's outstanding to have a president who isn't another white guy, but that's not anything on which to base his success or failure in office. I like him, and by and large I agree with his views and stance on things. Hell, even his personality (as portrayed by the media) is a selling point for me, making me feel he's both levelheaded and competent without being uptight-- something I feel someone of authority must retain. But honestly I don't care that he's dark skinned, just so long as he keeps this country afloat.

That said:

I was just reading an article where Obama, talking about what sort of puppy his family intends to adopt, said offhandedly "Obviously, a lot of shelter dogs are mutts like me," in regards to finding a breed of dog suitable so that it doesn't flair up one of his daughters allergies. This statement strikes me personally, and it makes me even more glad to have him as president.

Everyone hails Barack Obama as the first President to be black/African-American. But in truth, dude is mulatto: his mom is white, his dad is black. He may be dark in complexion, but he's neither really here nor there on the ethnic divide. And the fact that he has no quarrels with this fact is all the more impressing to me.

The media is already and all to willingly foregoing the mention of his caucasian side, doing what can easily be called the Tiger Woods Effect. It's a simple misstep, an easy one to do, but one with some sometimes unintentionally harmful setbacks. Basically, if dude or chick looks black, then just call them that.

Tiger Woods is part black, part white, and part Asian. Does anyone remember that? Maybe you know he's part white, but do you remember the rest? No. 'Cause dude looks black, so it's easier to call him that. The media did it, and so can you! But in doing so you dismiss other parts of who he is, whether or not he closely identifies with that aspect of himself.

A good example of that last part: Jessica Alba (no relation). Jessica Alba is half-Mexican and half-white: this is common knowledge for a lot of you guys and dykes out there. How many of you, though, know that Ms. Alba cannot (or 'could not,' depending on circumstances) speak Spanish? She never grew up speaking the language, so why would she now? How could she? And yet the Hispanic community flames her and gives her crap because of her lack of association with that aspect of her heritage. They criticize her for not being what they want her to represent: a Latina.

Flip the script, though. Cameron Diaz can't speak a lick of Spanish either. Her father is Cuban (full on from Cuba Cuban even), and her last name is even Diaz-- if you're from LA, you might even know a curly brown-haired drawn-on-eyebrows chicana named Cameron. She's just as 'Latina' as Ms. Alba, and yet because she's of the blonde-haired blue-eyed ilk, no one has any issue whatsoever with her inability to speak spanish. Even though, in all respects, she is just as Hispanic as Jessica Alba by blood.

But I digress...

Back to Obama. Here we have a man, the most important figurehead of this country (lest we forget what we've already decided what he is by title alone) and he represents a growing minority in this country, even more conflicted and criticized than the black community (then, or now). What many people may fail to see is what he will be doing just by being where he is and having the view on life that he does.

Example: Every time I've had to fill out a census on federal paperwork I've always had to make a decision that seemed ridiculous to me: did I want to be Caucasian (non-Hispanic descent), Hispanic, or Native American this time? I'm all three at the same time, so how could I be just one for the sake of a census? In theory it makes sense: just simplify for record keeping. But life isn't that easy.

My prediction, my Hope if you will, with Obama in office is to finally see these simple overlooked things-- both in paperwork and in public vernacular-- wrought over and overturned. Simple and unnoticable to most, but for people like me-- multiracial folk who have to deal with these little annoyances-- it'd be a welcome change.

I feel fortunate that I live in a time where even before Obama came into the picture I could discuss my ethnicity without any issue. So that isn't my complaint. I'm just ready to see the last strands of this Old-Think fade away.

I'm proud of Obama, and I cannot wait to see what he accomplishes. I'm proud of Obama for already speaking so easily of his ethnicity. I'm proud of him for being proud of who he is without brow-beating people on the subject (like can be predicted much of the black community will do for at least a while, and I sort of feel have some right to). I appreciate that he has family in Nigeria. I appreciate that he has family in Indonesia. I appreciate that he's lived away from the US for various periods of his life.

I appreciate his views. I'm proud to call him President.

I'm proud that the US has their first truly International President.

One last note: I'm also proud of you guys protesting the Prop 8 decision. Fight hard, fight long, and not just when it's convenient. But moreover, please stop comparing Prop 8 with Prop 2. Animal rights and Civil rights are two different things.

Nine Truths and A Lie!

Rules are simple! Below are listed ten statements, nine of which are true and one of which is total bullshit. You need to guess which one it is!

1) Guess one at a time. None of this "Either this or that" stuff. Guess one, wait 'til I answer and guess again 'cause you're totally gonna be wrong I'm sure.
2) If you know one of these to be fact, for the love of Og keep your trap shut. It's no fun if you blab it out.
3) Make sure to check back and see if you're right or not, and to hear the story behind the true one!

Ready? Steady! COOK!

-_-_-_-_-

1) In junior high I once waited three hours, alone, to get an autograph for my sister and her friend from an actress I knew nothing about. Turns out it was Brittany Murphy.

2) I have been interviewed for at least a dozen newspaper, magazine, or TV news stories and have been cut out of or had the story altogether dropped every single time.

3) I went to a party with Paris Hilton.

4) I was at a gay dance at UCLA one time when I started chatting up this guy I thought was cute... who turned out to be a chick.

5) Once in the middle of a McDonalds, my roommate Willow and I recreated the fight in Kill Bill between Gogo Yubari and The Bride.

6) I was once hit by a car while riding my bike, and considering the events of that day it wound up being the best thing that happened to me.

7) I sometimes forget that my name is Jeremy.

8) I unknowingly had my own little fan group in the SFV punk scene for a brief time.

9) I used to be deathly afraid of zombies-- really had a kind of phobia with them.

10) If I had been born the date I were supposed to, and my mom had agreed to go into work at the LA Colosseum like she had been asked to, I could have been born at the '84 Olympics.

Your first message reads:

Do it do it do it.
You won't no balls

First glaring issue is the line "You won't no balls[.]" It took me a moment to deduce what you were getting at with that line, but I figured (rightfully so, I imagined) that you meant 'You don't have the balls,' or 'you won't, no balls.' Which is to say 'You won't because you don't have the courage to do so.'

And if I wanted to nit-pick I'd talk about the lack of proper commas in the first line, and improper use of line-breaks. But this is the internet, and folk like e e cummings have paved the way for creative expression through willful misuse of accepted literary rules.

Now, I assume that the message was sent in jest with nothing but humor in its intention, albeit reeking of juvenile net-boy. That's why I didn't go running off to a mod to report you, especially after you suggested I kill myself. There is, after all, a photo of me with a gun to my head. Hell, I thought it cute in a way when you called me a fag after it's such plainly available information if you bothered looking-- not to mention the joke was leading down that alley anyhow. But this is where I'm going to choose to step off, as the pathos you're displaying was cute while it lasted but I'm pretty much done.

I'm only responding at this length because I'm bored, and I'm curious to see if you bother to read it all (which isn't a challenge so much as a point of interest). I might respond if you respond again, but know that I'm going to journal this because it's just so damned awkwardly cute that I can't let this disappear into the digital crypt of the internet without an audience. My roommates alone have found a chuckle out of it as well.

By the way, I am typing in a hoighty-toighty fashion just to see if I can piss you off.

With love,
J

Original, Living, and Surviving

First thing's first! Thanks to PanasonicYouth for the TOTALLY AWESOME pimpage at the Buzznet Originals group. Check it out! It's a huge honor for me!

While I'm writing, I should point out that I've been working at two blogs for a long time now, and just never really mentioned it here. DoorQ is your source for queer sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. QueerPunks.com is your source for queercore rock. Unfortunately, the owner of QP might decide to take the site down (without talking to me about it, which is pretty messed up) so do me a favor and go read, listen to the podcasts, and more importantly COMMENT like there's no tomorrow, because there might not be, so persued him otherwise to keep the site up and going even during its hiatus.

In even BIGGER news, I'm leaving LA! I'm moving up to Tacoma, Washington (near Seattle for those who don't know) for no discernable reason other than to do it. Also, I'd have been homeless otherwise. GO TEAM!

Love always,
Jeremy

It's the little things...

So for those of you who peruse ebaumsworld and, more importantly, did so today you might have seen yet another list of funny mugshots. If you have, you might have seen number sixteen. If not, here she is:

AND HERE SHE IS AGAIN!

Hardcore Chick

That's right, I take photographs of criminals. So think twice before you mess with me!

8 Facts meme

Tagged by ScarletLark

Here are the rules:

1) Only list 8 facts.
2) You must then list 8 TAGS at the end of the post. This means you must name 8 people on Buzznet who now must do the same blog.***
3) Go comment on their profile and tell them to come read yours! Mark demands participation.

Eight true lies...

1) I love zombies now, but I used to have an honest-to-dog fear of them all the way up through high school. I blame seeing Dawn Of The Dead on TV when I was expecting some kids movie.

2) I have a weird form of OCD where I touch my fingers in different patterns to generate sums of thirteen. Also, I tap things and have to look at it, or use my fingers to create angles in squares/rectangles, or halve circles.

3) When Whoppers first came out my family ate them every day, for lunch and dinner, for a month straight. We were really poor at the time. Funnily enough though I still love them to this day (I even had one last night!)

4) I took a map making class in junior high. It was as useful as my french class in high school, which is to say... barely.

5) I've only ever gone on the Matterhorn at Disneland once. The first time I ever went on the Matterhorn I got so scared I told my mom "I don't want to go on that until I'm twelve!" Each time I went to Disneyland up until I was twelve the ride loomed over me and I was too scared to go. Years passed and I didn't go, then I go back when I'm like fourteen or fifteen all excited to go on the Matterhorn. It was closed. Every time I've gone since then it's been closed.

6) Growing up I was obsessed with rollercosters. I would lie in bed with my mom at night and instead of telling bedtime stories we'd make up rollercoasters. This might explain why amusement parks and rides are such an extremely commonplace thing in my dreams.

7) I raised my cats Indya and Grenedine from when they were wee kittens (I mean from before their eyes were open). Indya was a ferel hissing scratching beast of a thing and Grenedine was a docile adorable thing. Now that they're grown up Indya is a docile possibley-retarded crosseyed love crazed kitty, and Grenedine is absolutely insane and hisses/scratches at everything. They're both adorable in their own ways though.

8) My favorite books are the ones that change my world view. This may sound kinda pretentious, but it's true.

72 Hour gallery show!

As of today we officially have a location to hold the gallery event for the 72 Hour Photo Project showcase. Vanessa Marin from Cafe Kashmir, located in South Gate in the Los Angeles area, has gracefully given us the space we need. The show space isn't exactly a full gallery, but there is a fairly large area to show the photos. We have a sixty-five foot long wall and another section to put the photos in, but overall there won't be a whole hell of a lot of room to put everything, which wasn't the plan really.

Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to be really selective with who I showcase, partly because of the lack of space. I'm going to invite everyone to participate in the online portion of course, but the actual gallery showing will only be a select number of photos. I'll email directly those I have first interest in, but depending on who participates and what they're stuff looks like I may get in contact with others after the actual shooting dates.

The show will take place in May (not sure about the exact dates yet). But the actual shooting dates are currently set to March 2 - 4. Everyone who's going participate and wants to be a part of the gallery MUST shoot their photos through those dates. That's an important part of the show's theme.

The theme of the show is fairly simple on your parts. The title of the show is thus;
72 Hours Photo Project
Through Their Eyes...

The goal of the show is to show what peoples lives look like over the course of the same three days, on a global level.

More information will come as I have it. Until then, eh... Who's interested? Let me know, like, now.

Of Copy Books, and a possible 72 Hour Photo Project gallery show

Two big things I want to talk about, both of which will require friends help from around the world.

First let me talk about the possible gallery show. For those of you who participated in the 72 Hour Photo Project, of which I appreciate everyone's involvement, I plan on turning this project into a gallery show. That's to say, after the next one I want to try and get everyone's permission to turn it into a gallery show.

I have a teacher who really likes the idea of it and wants to help make it a reality. My original intent was to try and turn this into a book highlighting the best photos, but she suggested first I do a gallery show to generate interest and help the photographers helping me with this project feel comfortable with me so they know I'm not going to rip them off.

I'm not sure how this is going to happen, or what's going to happen even; but I want your involvement. There are a few of you I'll be asking specifically because I loved your particular shots from the last series, and I'll still be accepting submissions for the website as usual. But with the gallery I'm going to be more selective I think.

We'll see how it happens and I'll keep everyone posted on what's going on.

My other project, this one is a guerilla literary project I'm tentitivley calling Copy Books. I was partly inspired by the webcomic Templar, Arizona where they mention the existence of something called 'copy books.' This is why I'm not sure I'm going to use that particular name for the project, but we'll see.

What it is, basically without giving away to much, is a project where I plan to write a series of short stories not related to each other, and sometimes not even within the same world, that reference back to the same central character of a story that will never actualy be written. The idea is to home-publish these (y'know, on my schools printers, haha). I'm gonna run about 100 copies for each city I plan on sending them out to (stay tuned for that explaination) and placing copies here and there for people to find.

Imagine walking into a record store and between "The Blood Brothers" and "Blondie" you find a copy of a home-made book titled War Of Roses. Later you find a similar copy of a book titled I Flew. Eventually you'll realize that these books are referencing each other.

The idea is to set up a website with a map to see who reads the stories, what they think, and where they come from.

Now here's where I'll need some help; I need people across the country, and across the globe even, to help me distribute copies of these books into public areas. Book stores, beaches, parks, buses, everywhere. Let me know if you're interested in helping out with this project. As it comes closer to go time, I'll make another post asking people to really help.

KillRadio photos

Oh my GOD! WHAT the fuck happened here? These photos ALL look like shit! I did a horrible job of focusing, the lighting is god awful, the composition on a lot of them is just wretched. It's just embaressing. This is just an embaressing set of photos. Out of four rolls I shot, twenty-six are half-way decent. Of those? Maybe four I'd display. FOUR! OUT OF FOUR ROLLS! This set is just an embaressment. I can't even fucking look at them. HATE THEM HATE THEM HATE THEM!

Skaters, bikers, bladers, and tracuers!

This is a call out to people who skate, bmx, blade, or PK.

I want to shoot you! I want to film you! I want to build up a portfolio so I can get jobs, damnit. But first and foremost, I just wanna have fun filming some good skating.

I have a good camera and know how to use it. I also have access to fuckin' awesome film (read: video) equipment, and am trying to save up enough for a good camcorder as well. I have editing software at my disposal, and I'm a damned good editor.

I also have access to a ton of music, and know a lot of local bands. So if you ever wanna piece together a video to music.

Hit me up on AIM at SuffocatedRabbit, or email me at dergermbot@yahoo.com.

My Pentax SF10

Well some things I've noticed about my "good" camera make me realize it's time I bought a new one.

Although I kinda like it as it is, the white balance is always set way too pink. I like it, but I want to be able to have clear balanced images.

The lens barral is cracked on one side. So all my images always come out, well, not the way I initially shot them. Like, I frame it up perfectly in some shots and it'll wind up tweaked upward or to the side, changing the frame.

Granted I don't mind working with this camera. I love it. I love not knowing what to expect. But there're times, a lot, that I just want a clear image. I want something that looks crisp and is balanced right.

So, I'm in the market for a digital SLR now.

Lost and Found (again)

Well guess what, I just found a shit ton of photos I done near forgot I had taken in the past. So tommorow at school I'm gonna try and find a free scanner and, well, scan them in.

I also did a photo shoot for my mom today. She's on eHarmony.com and wanted some good photos for the site. I think they'll turn out beautiful.

Well, I have a deep paper cut on my finger so I'm'a stop typing now.
